Prior to Christmas Break, some Oakesdale students along with Mr. Strong attended the VFW Essay Contest awards ceremony. While we have not yet been provided a full list of essay contest winners, the parents who attended, along with Mr. Strong have stated that "Oakesdale cleaned up" when it came to receiving awards. We are proud to participate in this contest each year and always have great success. It is an honor to be invited to participate.

We do congratulate Eva Dickinson, Clara Baker, and Havilah Arroyo who were in attendance at the ceremony; we also know that Mrs. Warwick is also receiving an award, as is the Oakesdale School District. There will be a special assembly in the near future to recognize all our award winners and at that time, complete recognition with all names, awards, and photos will be posted. Congrats to all our students who participated! #NighthawkProud

This was a special morning for our school, and especially for Grant Opitz who will be playing football next year for the Lewis-Clark Valley Loggers. Today, a signing day assembly was held for Grant; friends he grew up with joined us, as did his parents, and his new coach, Coach Wendell. We are so proud of Grant, who is our ASB President, in NHS, Hawk Helpers, band, and so many other activities. Grant models hard work, he models great behavior, he understands the importance of school, and has so many great relationships with his fellow students and school staff. Congrats to you Grant! #NighthawkProud

Hello to our Senior Citizens who enjoy lunch every Wednesday. There is an error in the Hawk Tawk being mailed today. The correct information is that begining on December 10th, all senior lunches must be paid for, it is no longer by donation. The cost is $5.14 per lunch. This is due to the Council on Aging losing their funding. Please spread the word. Thank you.

Just a reminder that winter is here! Winter weather procedures are posted in the NEWS section of the website. A few things to remember:
*When it is snowing, students should wear coats, gloves, hats, and snowpants as recess is likely going to be outside.
*It is okay to bring sleds
